Dame Rangimārie Hetet was a distinguished practitioner of Māori weaving who is credited with revitalising the art and taking it to a national and international audience. This 1987 television clip shows Hetet, her daughter Diggeress Te Kanawa (who was also a renowned weaver and speaks on the clip) and her granddaughters at work. Both Hetet and Te Kanawa received honorary doctorates from the University of Waikato in recognition of their skills.
