Lichfield heritage

This small building made of rhyolite stone is one of the few relics of the 1880s, when Lichfield was a coach stop on the way to Rotorua. In the 2000s Lichfield was the centre of a farming district, and its Fonterra cheese factory was the largest in the southern hemisphere.
