Kōrero: Waikato places



The film set of Hobbiton, created for the Lord of the rings film trilogy, is on a farm near Matamata. It attracts many tourists – in fact Matamata now bills itself as ‘Hobbiton’. In 2011–12 the set was reconstructed for The hobbit.
