Jumping off the footbridge

Jumping off the footbridge

Children jump off the footbridge that crosses Opotoru inlet between the centre of Raglan township and Kopua Recreation Reserve. Leaping off the bridge into the waters below has been a favourite summer pastime for generations of local children. In 2009 plans to build a higher replacement bridge were announced, sparking controversy amongst locals who wanted to preserve the tradition.
