Kōrero: Auckland places

Cornwall Park

Cornwall Park

John Logan Campbell stands on The Avenue in Cornwall Park around 1900. Campbell was one of Auckland’s first merchants and made his fortune in land, brewing, and other enterprises. The park was his country estate, which he gifted to the city in 1901. It includes One Tree Hill Domain, and is popular with picnickers, runners, and cyclists. Its sports grounds are used for cricket, rugby and tennis.
