Story: Te whakamārama reo ā-tuhi, ā-waha hoki

‘E te Atua tohungia te kuini’

Nā te mātaamua a Henry Williams, nā Edward Marsh Williams i whakamāori te waiata o ‘E te Atua tohungia te kuini’ i te tau 1860. Nā Edward Williams anō i āwhina tōna matua ki te whakamāori i te Tiriti o Waitangi, ā, i muri iho ka whai ia i a Meiha Thomas Bunbury i te kawenga haeretanga o te Tiriti ki ngā iwi o te motu. Nō muri mai ka tohua ia hei kaiwhakamārama reo tuatahi mā te kāwanatanga. I te tau 1897 ka tāia tōna whakamāoritanga o te ngaringari ā-motu ki runga i ngā kāri e whakaaturia ake nei. Ko ēnei kāri i kawea e Te Hētana i te huritau taimana o Kuini Wikitōria i Ingarangi.
