Mai i te tekau tau 1920 ka whakaae te kāwanatanga ki te hanga i ngā kaupapa whanake taiwhenua Māori me te whakauru i ētahi kawenga whakatū whare hou ki roto. Ko te whare tēnei o tētahi kaipāmu Māori ki Te Reureu (e tata ana ki Whanganui) i hangaia i runga i te pūtea taurewa kāwanatanga me te hoahoa a te Tari Mahi. Kei te pikitia tuarua te kāinga tawhito o te kaipāmu.
