I ngā tau 1888 me 1889 ka āmio te kapa whutupaoro Māori ki ngā whenua o Peretānia, o Ahitereiria me Aotearoa nei. Ko te nuinga o ngā kaitākaro he Māori, ā, he ruarua anō ngā Pākehā i whai wāhi ki te kapa. Kei muri ko ngā haki o Peretānia (taha matau) me te haki o Te Whakaminenga o Ngā Iwi (ara ōna rerekētanga).
