Te Aumiti (French Pass)

Ko Te Aumiti te ingoa o te roma wai kei waenganui i Te Wai Pounamu me te moutere o Rangitoto. Koinei te takotoranga whakamutunga o te kawau a Kupe. Ko Te Kawau-a-Toru (he whakarāpopotanga a Toru mō Pōtoru, rangatira o Te Rino) te ingoa o te manu toro takiwā a Kupe. Nō tana whakamātautau i te wāhi nei hei whitinga mō te waka o Kupe, ka whati tētahi o ōna parirau, ka toremi ia. Kua huri te manu nei hei kōhatu – arā, ko Te Aumiti a Te Kawau-a-Toru. Kīia ai te toka kei reira e tū ana tētahi whare rama, ko ngā kōiwi o te manu.
