Murihiku marae

In June 2008 Murihiku marae in Invercargill celebrated 25 years since the opening of its first building – the wharekai (dining room) Hine o te Iwi. The marae was established for both local people and those who came south for work. Pictured are founding members (front row, from left) Bev Hemopo, Lily Joseph, Peggy Peek, Mhari Baty; (back row, from left) Rongo Donaghy, Louise Leask and Kahurere Light.
