He whakapakoko tēnei o Kupe, tana hoa wahine a Hine Te Apārangi, tae atu ki te tohunga a Pekahourangi. Nā Te Apārangi te whenua i tapa ko Aotearoa, i tana kitenga i tētahi kapua roa, kapua tea. He tohu aua momo kapua, he whenua tūtata.
