Around 110 people showed up for the 2-kilometre bike ride from Tarakohe to Pōhara in March 2010 – the seventh annual naked bike ride held in Golden Bay. Clothes were optional, and most participants just wore shoes and cycle helmets – with some creatively applied body paint. The event promoted cycling as an alternative to cars, and highlighted a campaign calling for drivers to give cyclists at least a 1.5-metre berth when passing.
