Te Wherowhero

He whakaahua tēnei o te rangatira nui o Te Wherowhero (ka tū hei kīngi Māori tuatahi i muri iho). Nā G. F. Angas i peita, ā, i tāngia i te tau 1847. I muri iho i te pakanga o 1845-1846 ki Te Pēwhairangi, ka marohi ngā āpiha koroniara Piritānia kia whakatepe i ngā mōtika whiwhinga whenua Māori. Ka whakautu te Hekeretari Koroniara o Piritānia, a Earl Grey hei māngai mōna, e mea ana ‘her Majesty has always directed that the Treaty should be most scrupulously and religiously observed.’ Ka kitea ngā tuhinga o ngā reta e rua i raro iho.
