Limestone ridges, Hawke’s Bay

Limestone ridges, Hawke’s Bay

Many of the ridges in Hawke’s Bay are formed of bands of hard limestone that stand above the surrounding land. This ridge is just east of Havelock North, with the Tukituki River in the background. The photograph was taken from Te Mata Peak, one of the highest points on the ridge.
