E whakaatu ana te whakaahua nei i ngā parehua whakamīharo o te ao tāngata whai Pākehā e noho ana ki Aotearoa. Ko Te Tarata te ingoa o te parehua mā, ko Ōtūkapuārangi te ingoa o te parehua māwhero, he poto ake, he whāiti ake. He mea mau ngā tūruhi ki ngā parehua mā ngā waka hopu tohorā, mā ngā waka rānei. I te hūnga o Tarawera i te tau 1886 ka orotā ngā parehua: nō konei ka papahoro anō ko ngā mahi tūruhi o ngā uri o Te Arawa.

These terraces must have been an amazing sight!! It's such a shame they are no longer. I think the date for this picture is wrong, the Tarawera eruption of 1886 destroyed both white & pink terraces.
