Early Picton motel

Image
Early Picton motel

Picton – and New Zealand’s – first motel opened in the summer of 1951–52; this one was photographed in 1958. New Zealand motel units, with their own kitchens, bathrooms and car parking, had amenities which the hotels of the time lacked.
