Even in the days of the internet and mobile phones, boats are an indispensable link to the outside world for settlements around Pelorus Sound, many of them, like this one, with boat access only. For tourists, a trip on the mail-boat can combine sightseeing with a glimpse of ordinary life, Sounds-style.
