Tree trunk and bushman

Image
Tree trunk and bushman

Tudor Collins, a photographer of the Coromandel kauri industry, photographed himself in 1921 in one of the gashes made by the sawyers into both flanks of this massive kauri in the Kauaeranga valley. The tree trunk dwarfs both Collins and an axe. Collins worked as a bushman on the peninsula between 1918 and 1923.
