Rainbow Mountain

Sunlight and shadow dapple Rainbow Mountain (Maungakakaramea), near Waiotapu. The mountain is named after its vivid rock colours, produced by volcanic processes. The mountain has cooled in recent years, allowing vegetation to return to some of its slopes.
