Ki te iwi Māori, ko Hawaiki te kāinga tūturu; heoi, ki ngā kaihōpara tōmua, ko Hawaiki te moutere kātahi anō ka mahue i a rātou, ehara i te moutere tūturu. Ko te tikanga ake o te kupu ‘hawaiki’, ko te kāinga i mahue.
