I whāngaihia te tipuna a Māui e tōna koroua e Tamanui-ki-te-rangi. Nāna ia i whakaora i tōna kitenga i tātahi e paengatai ana. Kei tēnei whakaahua e ako ana a Māui i ngā kōrero a tōna koroua mō Ranginui rāua ko Papatūānuku.
