Kōrero: Northland places

Marsden Point

Marsden Point

Marsden Point, at the southern entrance to Whāngārei Harbour, is the site of New Zealand’s only oil refinery. It operated around the clock, 365 days a year, until its closure in 2022. Almost half the fuel output was carried by pipeline to Auckland. The rest was shipped around the country from the deep-water berth at the point.
