Gus Fisher's El-Jay was a leading label in the 1960s. Fisher took his inspiration from Paris and made regular trips there. El-Jay remained part of the New Zealand fashion scene until 1988, and in 2010 the New Zealand Fashion Museum mounted an exhibition featuring the label. This is Fisher adjusting the bow of one of the dresses in the exhibition. He died in July 2010, three days after the exhibition closed in Auckland.
