The Bason Botanic Gardens at Rapanui, 14 kilometres north-west of Whanganui, are a former 26-hectare dairy farm that has been extensively landscaped and developed. Some 70,000 bricks from Whanganui’s old Majestic Cinema were incorporated in the construction of a display centre and three conservatories.
