Pennantia is a small isolated tree genus found only in the southern hemisphere. Two of the four recognised species are (from left): P. endlicheri (Norfolk Island) and P. baylisiana (Three Kings Islands). The third species P. corymbosa grows on mainland New Zealand and the fourth, P. cunninghamii, grows in eastern Australia. Separated by water, the two species in the northern islands ecoregion have developed different leaf forms.
