Barry Brickell trained as a teacher but only taught for a few months in Coromandel, instead becoming a full-time potter there in 1961. He established the Driving Creek Pottery, where he also explored another passion, narrow-gauge railway. Watch Brickell remove his pots from the kiln in this clip from a 1970 short film.
