Kōrero: Waiata hōu – contemporary Māori songs

Ko Ngoi Pēwhairangi, 'Whakarongo'

Video file

E waiata ana ngā kaihaka o Te Hokowhitu-a-Tū (te rōpū o Ngoi) i te waiata rongonui o ‘Whakarongo’. I titoa mai e Ngoi tēnei waiata ki Pākirikiri Marae i Tokomaru, hei urupare i te tono a Waihoroi Shortland rāua ko Herewini Murupaenga, kia tukuna iho he puiaki mō te hōtaka o Koha. E tōwai ana te kaipānui, ko te reo Māori me tōna oranga te huatau o te waiata ‘Whakarongo’. Ka mea anō te kaipānui, he kaitaunaki anō a Tīmoti Kāretu i te waiata – koia te toihau o mua o Te Taura Whiri i te Reo Māori.
