Shackleton departs for Antarctica, 1908 (2 o 2)

British explorer Ernest Shackleton's 1908 voyage to the Antarctic departed from Lyttelton, after weeks of preparation and ceremony. Government cameraman James McDonald recorded the events. This silent film shows the Mongolian ponies and husky sled dogs that Shackleton chose for the expedition.
