Shackleton departs for Antarctica, 1908 (2nd of 2)

British explorer Ernest Shackleton's 1908 voyage to the Antarctic departed from Lyttelton, after weeks of preparation and ceremony. Government camera operator James McDonald recorded the events. This silent film shows the Mongolian ponies and husky sled dogs that Shackleton chose for the expedition.
