Kōrero: Documentary film

Beautiful Levin, 1922

Cinema was commonly called the 'biograph' in 1922, when this silent film was made. It was filmed in the Horowhenua town of Levin as part of a nationwide 'Beauty by Biograph' competition. Contestants were filmed in their own town, and the results screened at the local cinema. Sometimes, as in this case, local scenery was also filmed. The camera operator was Bob Palamountain.
