Melbourne Cup: Kiwi wins in 1983 (4 o 4)

Kiwi's storming run from last to first in the 1983 Melbourne Cup has gone down in the annals of this famous race as the most astounding finish ever. Though not ranked among out greatest thoroughbreds (he had 13 wins from 60 starts), Kiwi remains a folk hero. Farm-trained in Waverley by his owner, Snow Lupton, Kiwi epitomised the rugged, determined New Zealand stayer from a humble background.
