Kōrero: Death rates and life expectancy

Fighting tuberculosis

Video file

The number of Māori deaths from tuberculosis declined steeply between 1945 and 1961 as a result of public health and social welfare measures. This 1952 film shows how the spread of tuberculosis within families was reduced by providing separate accomodation for infected family members.
