The Chateau Tongariro

Video file

New Zealand has two famous alpine hotels. The first to open was the Hermitage, near Aoraki/Mt Cook, in 1885. The second was the Chateau Tongariro, which opened at the foot of Mt Ruapehu in 1929. This National Film Unit weekly news programme promotes the chateau.
