Wreck of the Hydrabad

Wreck of the Hydrabad

In 1878 the Hydrabad was wrecked off the Horowhenua coast. For years a walk from Waitarere or Hōkio to the wreck was a staple of summer, as for these girls in 1905. In recent times the wreck has almost completely sunk into the sand.
