Mrs F. A. Ridland, a ‘house mother’ to 14 young Malaysian students at their Wellington hostel, displays the airline ticket that will whisk her away to Singapore and Malaysia for a three-month holiday. Her hosts when she arrived in Asia were those she had previously looked after who had finished their studies and returned home.
