Tents and houses, Waihī Beach

Tents and houses, Waihī Beach

Holidaymakers began visiting Bay of Plenty beaches in the 1920s. They drove to formerly remote locations like Waihī Beach, Mt Maunganui and Ōhope, from Auckland and other centres. This photograph taken at Waihī Beach around 1925 shows tents, cars and houses.
