The anthology film Kāinga(2022) followed on from Waru (2017) and Vai(2019), completing a trilogy of films produced by Kerry Warkia and Kiel McNaughton of Brown Sugar Apple Grunt Productions.

In Kāinga, Asian film-makers chronicle the experiences of eight women of Chinese, Japanese, Filipina, Korean, Indian, Iranian, Tamil and Chinese-New Zealand ethnicity in the same suburban Auckland home over a 50-year period.
