Ko Turuturu-Roimata te ingoa o te toka nei. Kāore i tawhiti atu i te wāhi i ū mai ai a Mataatua.Ko te whakapakoko kei runga, ko Wairaka, te tamāhine a Toroa. I te kawenga o te tai i a Mataatua ki waho ki te moana, ka nanao a Wairaka ki te hoe, ka hoea mai te waka ki uta me tana kī, ‘Kia whakatāne au i ahau.’ Koinei te pūtake o te ingoa o te tāone o Whakatāne. Ko Moutohorā tērā i muri, e iwa kiromita te tawhiti atu i Whakatāne. I ngā rā o mua haere ai a Ngāti Awa ki taua moutere ki te mahi tītī. I ēnei rā kua noho a Moutohorā hei whenua rāhui mō ngā kararehe tūturu o Aotearoa.
