Hamish Carter (centre) leads fellow New Zealander Bevan Docherty (right) during the running leg of the triathlon at the 2004 Athens Olympics. Carter ran away from Docherty to win the race,  while Switzerland's Sven Riederer (in the red) won the bronze. Carter and Docherty were both highly successful in triathlons in the first decade of the 21st century.
