New Zealand women's hockey team, 1914

Men commonly coach women's sports teams. This is the New Zealand ladies' hockey team of 1914. Their manager and coach was A. W. Manning (middle row, right). Mrs J. C. Peacock (middle row, left) acted as team chaperone – an essential position in those days when single women travelled with a man.
