Tiare Lund of Kumeū wins the 65–69-years age-group title at the Ironman World Championship in Hawaii in October 2011. Lund, aged 66 at the time, had been competing in triathlons since 1985 and Ironman events since 1987. Triathlons usually involve swimming, cycling and running; the Ironman consists of a 3.9-kilometre swim, a 180-kilometre bike ride and a marathon (42.195-kilometre) run. Lund has won numerous world titles and age-group medals, competing in triathlon (including Ironman), duathlon and aquathlon events.
