Mr and Mrs F. P. O'Donnell and their sons Kevin (left) and Pat, of Hamilton, are shown prior to a 1969 inquiry into the Scientology movement in New Zealand. The O'Donnells alleged that two of their other children joined the church, then formally 'disconnected' from their family, terming their parents 'enemies' and 'suppressive persons'. The inquiry into improper influence by the Scientology movement accepted the O'Donnells' claims but found that the church had since changed its practices and could therefore continue to operate in New Zealand.
