Ko te wawata o te Māori, ina tae ngā tāone hōu ka uru rātou ki te hokohoko, engari ka nekehia kētia ō rātou kāinga ki waho o ngā tāone nui. I te mutunga o te rau tau 1800 kua kore e nōhia ngā pā o Aro, o Pipitea o Ngāūranga hoki.
