Billboard advertising is a form of visual communication and is a prominent feature of urban landscapes in New Zealand, particularly in the bigger cities. Like graffiti, advertising is contested by members of the community – some see it as visual pollution while others think it adds to the vibrancy of a place. This billboard in Mt Eden, Auckland, in 2009 competes for attention with a host of other business advertising.
