In the late 1990s Auckland’s Viaduct Basin was rapidly transformed into a base for the America’s Cup yacht races. The harbour’s perimeter was lined with chic restaurants, apartments and a spacious promenade. Popular with both lunchtime and evening crowds, the area revitalised the city’s waterfront.
