
Since the late 1990s a disproportionately large number of English people have settled in Auckland, especially on the North Shore. One family who put down roots there were Helen and Philip Jennings and their children Thomas and Emma. Like many English immigrants, they had skills which were in demand in the bigger city of Auckland: Helen was a quantity surveyor and Philip worked in the IT industry.
