Mining the Māui gas field

Māui A was the first gas platform to be anchored to the seabed above the Māui gas field, in January 1976. This diagram shows the platform and pipeline in relation to New Zealand. Two submarine pipelines, about 34 kilometres long, carried condensate (light oil) and gas to the Taranaki coast, coming ashore at Ōaonui. Māui B was constructed in 1993.
