I mahia te mahere nei mō te pukapuka mahere whenua i te tau 1940, hei whakanui i te kotahi rau tau o Niu Tireni (nāwai rā, kāore i whakaputaina taua pukapuka). Ko te wāhi whero, ko ngā whenua kua hokona e te Pākehā i te tau 1860; ka kitea, he iti noa ngā whenua i tēnei wā kei te rohe o Waikato kei ngā ringaringa o te Pākehā.
