Kōrero: Plays and playwrights

The Canterbury Repertory Theatre Society, under the energetic and visionary leadership of James Shelley, was a driving force in amateur theatre in the early 20th century. This 1931 circular to its members announces performances of five one-act plays by local authors. They include Alan Mulgan, a prominent journalist and writer; Ngaio Marsh, who later achieved international success as a theatre director and crime writer; and Violet Targuse, whose work went on to be widely performed.
