I te mutunga o te pakanga i Waikato, ka puta te pānui a Kāwana Hōri Kerei e wete ana i te hara kei runga i ngā Māori. Heoi, kāore i wetekina te hara i runga i te katoa. Ko ētahi o ēnei, ko te hunga nā rātou a Te Wākana i kōhuru i Ōpōtiki, me te hunga nā rātou a Hēmi Te Mautaranui Fulloon i patu ki Whakatāne. Ka pānui anō a Kerei, kei te tukuna he ope taua ki Te Moana-a-Toitehuatahi ki te whai i te hunga nā rātou a Fulloon rāua ko Te Wākana i kōhuru. Ko te putanga o tēnei haerenga, ko ngā heketea e 100,000 o Ngāti Awa i raupatutia.
